Dolly originated as a derogatory term for female prostitutes and servants, and expanded to mean objects and devices—often overlooked—that carry our things and do the heavy lifting.

To examine who supports, carries, maintains, and attends to, I constructed stylized arrangements that highlight underprops, unseen labors, and backstage feelings.

These dollies are decorated and adorned—refusing to be invisible. Assemblages of soft materials are woven together to draw attention to tactility, comfort, and the supports underneath.

Special thanks to Ray Im, Rob Crossno, and Ken Grinde
